The starting brief

The vehicle will usually park on the left side of an attached garage. Shelving occupies the back wall, the electrical panel is elsewhere in the home and the household may add a second EV later. The owner has looked at chargers but has not bought one.

Decision one: where the cable belongs

The first conversation should cover the vehicle's charge-port position, normal parking and the route people take into the house. A location that looks tidy on an empty wall may be awkward when the car and storage are in place. The desired outcome is convenient access without a cable crossing the usual walking route.

Decision two: what the home can support
